Hello there world. It's your friend, son, grandson, newphew, whatever you call me from the MTC. I've decided this is another world here. When we see people from the 'real world' its kinda weird. I find myself asking the dumbest stuff haha, then realize i'm definately a missionary. This week has been good, we got our other teacher Hermano Pino back from his vacation and our Spanish has taken off ever since! I'm feeling a lot better about it but still completely inadequate. Work in progress. That is so cool that Kyler got the opportunity to go to efy. Thank you for the package of socks and stuff! Saturday was like Christmas I got a package from you, nat, and kristen! I was trippin out, i felt very loved and the other Elders wouldn't talk to me for like 2 hours :). Ummm, you asked about who i've been wrting. I write you(dad kyler carter karly), katie, and nathan on a regular basis. I've also written and recieved from scott and mel, jb and kris, nat and jeff, jeff c, kirk and dani, not mike and tash yet but today i will write them. I got a letter from Liz which was cool, one from daniel, and a few others. Thank everyone for writing me I love it! From now on have ky, carter, and kar kar either hand write or dearelder till i leave then i'll email back. (emails to me are hard because i only have 30 minutes then it kicks me off, including time to read). Anyways thankyou for the pictures they are great and hanging by my desk, i'll have new pics and vids to send soon! The DR guys left :(, it's completely (not been good) without them. They were the life of the fun here, and i got along with them so so so well! Great guys. I'll write more about them later but our district is left with 4. Yeah 4. Dismal, haha. So we get to see a lot of each other. We also had another district leave to mexico so we are short in numbers but a new one comes in wednesday 8 elders and 4 sisters. I can't believe how many sisters are here! never expected this many it's pretty cool. We had a great talk last night by the missionary dept pres Bro. Allen. He had us look at the lyrics to come come ye saints (my all time fav hymn) and he realated how it's not just about the pioneers but its about us missionaries. The lyrics just go along with missionary work so well. At the conclusion of his speech we sung the song with the mormon tabernacle choir. The spirit was unbelievable, and as the last verse started, missionaries started standing, and it caught on. 2,000 modern day stripling warriors standing and singing in one voice, tears running down all of our faces. It was unlike any other time in my life. This church is true! The feelings of peace and joy this gospel brings are everything! I'm so excited to share what i know with the people of Argentina. I love you all!!! Till next week,
Hasta luego!

Letter received July 23 2009
Carson wrote the following letter to me and I thought I would share it. I don't think Carson knows that his Uncle Mike served one month of his mission with Bro. Groberg. in Argentina!
Mom,
Wow. Tonight was a night I'll never forget and I just wanted to share it w/ you a bit. We had a devotional in the conference center here at the MTC like we do every Tuesday. We heard rumblings that it was a very important person in the church so we showed up an hour early to see the legendary John Groberg!! He gave an amazing talk about missionary work. A great quote he said, "You'll leave an impression in every single thing you do, wether it be ill or good. What impression will you leave?" He said many other thing that touched me, but I don't have time to write it all.
I heard a story during out testimiony meeting from Elder Keeton that has me crying still. When he was 8 months old he went limp and became unresponsive. The paramedics tried but to no avail. His Dad was gone @ work and being the only members on hte island there was no one to give him a priesthood blessing. The helicopter picked him and his mother up and flew them to the hospital. His mother was in shambles. As they pulled him out of the helicopter he stopped breathing, then as they ran him into the hospital there standing in the waiting room were 2 men standing there with ties and name badges that bore the name of Christ. There in that waiting room they gave him the priesthood blessing his father couldn't give. They brought him back to life. These men had received a phone call that day that a member was in the hospital and they had a prompting to go see her. They found she had been released the day before, and they were leaving when he was rushed in.
Mom, I know that if I follow my Heavenly Fathers promptings this can be me. I'm participating in the greatest cause known to man and that exists on this earth. I love ya. Share this w/ the family. Love ya

PS loved the con queso! Thank you! Ate lunch and dinner w/ Ian Crookston yesterday!

Helllooooo Momma and family!! P-Day again, this week has flippin flown by! Flippin...... yeah im a missionary officially now. Anyways, this week was good. I had a cool experience tuesday. My mailbox had a note that was hand written to go to the main building to meet a Richard Heaton. So i was a bit nervous, and headed on my way. When i got there i saw the plaque outside his door 'Richard Heaton Administrative Director MTC'. My heart was pounding i was trippin out, as we went in he had a huge smile and told me a big long story how he knew weber states track coach who told him that Ty Campbell had a son in the MTC and how he was dissapointed he hadn't gotten enough letters from his son haha. So the Administrative Director of the entire MTC passed the message to write dad. Funny thing is that i had already written a letter, just didnt get a chance to send it till today! So we spoke for a bit longer, and got to know each other, he asked our opinions on the curbside drop off and other MTC policies. Then told us he was giving the fireside which was last night. He spoke in the big conference center here in front of all 2,300 missionaries!! I was like "yeah i totally was talkin with that guy earlier this week, i'm just cool like that i guess" haha. His talk was AMAZING, he could be a general authority someday with that speaking power. Anyways, the Spanish is ehhhhhhhh....... good till we talk to native speakers and realize we dont know jack. Classes are getting more intense. Our schedual goes like so. Tuesday-Saturday: Wake up 6 30, Breakfast till 7 30, Class till 11 30, Lunch till 12 15, Class till 4 30, Dinner till 5 15, then more Class till 9, then planning and in bed showered by 10 30. It's quite demanding! After 6 weeks i'll send you my daily planner in the mail. I could use some more white ankle socks, and a few more pairs of church socks. I hope all is well at home. I've had a shortage of letters the last 3 days whats up with that?!!? Don't worry i still love you all. I heard some bad news about Scott. Pray for him. It was sobering news when i found out. I sent individual letters to all the kids today so they should get them wednesday! Keep me updated on life. I'd really appreciate Mike and Tash's address, as well as Scott and Mel in your next dear elder! There are rumblings around the MTC that all the Argentine Elders are getting delayed! I hope it's not true when it comes time to leave. I love ya mom, keep up the good work. I took for granted being able to tell you how much i love you every day. Just know i do, i love you all very very much. Giving up my first name, and 2 years of my life is one thing, but the toughest has been giving up time with you all. I love ya, write me anything you wanna know. I'll be happy to answer back. I don't get dearelders on saturday or sunday. They print them off before dinner Mon-Fri, just a little fyi. Anyways i had a lot more to say but my brain is not functioning correctly, information overload. So write me! Onward ever onward as I get the oportunity to glory in his name! Forward pressing forward is the triumph song I sing!! Wooo, yeahhhh, all that :)

Monday July 13, 2009
Hola familia! 2nd P-day of the MTC stay and the weather is HOTTTTT! We went to the temple this morning and it was awesome. We unfortunately have the earliest session (7am) so we have to wake up at about 5 30 to get prepped and walk up to the temple. This week has been a lot easier for me. I'm still missing you all very very much, i think of you everyday. The last 7 days have seemingly flown by, yet i feel like i've been here for monthes. Weird i know, but i guess im just weird. Mom, sound like the health connection went well. I have to admit i didnt miss the unload and loading of supplies. That rest with kyler for next year as well :) enjoy buddy! Haha, but i think it'd be cool to be an interpreter 2 years from now. Count me in. Though it seems a long shot at this point because my spanish is aweful haha. It'll come though! We learned how to approach and meet people in spanish this week, how to ask about their family, etc. It's tiring learning so much everyday, but it makes for a very easy transition to the bed. Our floor is experience some major moves today. We've had a spanish branch and a tagolic speaking (phillipeans?) branch, but the the tagolics moved out to another building to make room for full time MTC missionaries (that work in the RC, and stuff like that). SO we're very lonely at night. Our nights used to be very loud from 9 30 to 10. Then next week our district breaks from 8 to 4. The DR missionaries leave to their local MTC. I'm dreading this day! The DR guys are my best friends, and they'll be missed badly. Elder Campbell and Elder Keeton are the only two elders that keep me sane here, and they are 2 of the 4 leaving. Anyways, i love you all very much. Dad i need some sports news asap, and would love to be able to write you personally but i don't know which email to send it to. Same goes for ky ky, and carter. Karly i'll be sending you a letter soon! As well as some copies of pictures! The moment i get the xd card in the mail i'll send out the one i have now. There are some good pictures and i've managed to do a few videos that i hope will work! You have all been great examples to me my whole life and i appreciate it so much! Even kyky and carter! And kyler i hope that 41 you shot the other day was legit. NO re tees and mullys! And if it really was a 41 post a 48 :) its the campbell way, haha jk. Anyways im on a crave for some sports info so i need that, also need the letters to keep comin because as i've told nat and jeff it's like a missionaries crack :) Love you all, i'll speak to ya later. Make good decisions, and the blessings are yours! Carry that Campbell name! Onward ever onward as we glory in his name! Yeeee-hawww all that good stuff. I'm going to start a new trend before i end and its called the Elder Miller quote of the week. He's from idaho and is hilariously funny w/o knowing it. This week is "Gamer chicks are hot, i met a bunch at my last Halo tournament"

Family!
First off thanks for the letters, tell everyone else who has thanks as well! (and to keep sending in abundance!) I'm not suppose to be writing but I had to send off a lil info and say a few things. DAD- thanks for the sports info, it brought me to real life for a few short seconds and I needed & still need it! So keep it comin padre! Billy May's the oxyclean guy died!? He's awsome, RIP! Another Elder told me today that the one and only Shaq said, "I have one purpose & that is to protect the king." Haha I loved it, he's the man. Mom, the few things I need are ...1) addresses (emails) of your bro's & sisters- g'ma-g'pa, Jeff- & Dad's. 2) Some sweet colored spiffy ties (if you have funds) 3) box of bars of soap. 4) bed head hair stuff 5) Homemade cookies (preferably snicker-doodle :-) no joke. I think I may need a few more pairs of pants before I leave the MTC but that can be later! We had a great devotional tonight by a 70 Angil Abbera. It was cool & maybe one quote I can share, "We magnify ourselves with the way we act!" I loved that, especially with the people like yourselves who aren't serving a mission. Hope all is well. Tell Kar- Kar her pictures from primary are hanging in my room :-) The other Elders envy them! The Spanish is hard, I'm behind the guys in my district, they have all had +2 years in high school. My 1 middle school year does me no justice haha. But I'm suprisingly not far behind! I'll bear you my testimony. Just a quick one for lack of space! Anyways I know Carter will be OK on his trip. I've prayed for him as well as all of you every night. Tomorrow we have a TRC (teaching resource center). We have to meet a stranger (paid actor) and invite them to meet with us @ their house (in Spanish) and then teach the 1st lesson (in English). Should be exciting! One last thing. I'm in a district of 8 Elders. 4 of us are ging to Mendoza & the other 4 are going to Dominican republic. The 4 going to the island are leaving to that MTC in 2 weeks! Elder Campbell (wierd huh?), Elder Keeton, Elder Hunter, & Elder Lane. So we'll be left with 4. Districts are normally 10-12 so it'll be different! I don't want them to go me, Elder Keeton & Campbell #2 get along awesome. They're great guys!!! Oh, send me 2 sd cards for my cameral. I lost my original card along with all the pics I was going to send you :-( So send 2 so 1 can be in my camera and 1 in the mail for you to enjoy. Love you all! Make good decisons & you'll be blessed! Hasta luego ! Yo amo mi familia!

1st Day
Dear mom & fam
Today has been crazy! The second I walked in they had me running. I was the first in my room and waited 10 min for 1 of my 2 companions to show up. His name is Elder Barrus from Thousand Oaks CA. He is a cool guy that's into rock climing and stuff. My 2nd Comp is Elder Miller. I miss you all in the worst way. I'm supposed to lie and tell you all is well but I'm a bit home sick! So pray for me, I love you all so much. FYI last week we had 58 confirmed swine flu cases. They were quarentined and it's now dow to 4-5 cases. They won't let us shake hands though, its awkward. Anyways I love you all. The good book is true. I'm going to stick this out, it's gotta get easier. Write me a letter because I won't get to email till Monday and I wanna hear from you before then! Use the return address on the letter, it's my personal one. Use dearelder.com it's the best way on second thought tell Katie to use that ASAP!!!
Love your missionary,
Carson

Finally a first letter!
Hey family! Just wanted to start off by tellin ya i have a very very short time to write you so be patient while im at the mtc! Thankyou so much for the letter and package mom! it made my day! Mail to a missionary is like christmas, everyday our district leader (who happens to be my companion, yes he's strict to the max) gets the mail and getting a letter or not is make or break on your day so keep writing on dearelder even if its just about how your day went. Kyler make sure all my friends know that i can't email them most likely so they should write me there then i'll hand write them on mondays! The first day was crazy, as was day 2 and 3 and 4. They have us going for 16 hours straight w/ three 45 min meal times. The 45 includes travel there and back so we honestly are like zombies around here. The language is coming slowl, but i can already bear my testimony and we say all our prayers in spanish. I miss you all so so so so so so so badly. I don't have anytime to think during the day but at night i think about you constantly. I love you all so much. The spirit is helping me get through this, its been tough though. I saw kubricky elder yesterday, and the kid next door to us going to the phillipenes is best friends with daniel bowcutt! Small world eh? We have a district of 8 elders. 4 going to mendoza and 4 leaving in two weeks to the dominican republic mtc. My companion is Elder Barrus. He's a smooth lookin dude, and is really spiritual. My sarcasm doesnt catch on very easily so im really trying to work on being less myself around him so we dont have contention. When im talking to anyone else though i get to be myself. I just have to pray every night that maybe We'll start to understand each other a little better. It could be worse though! We had a fireside last night by elder holland of the 12 and it was awesome, i felt the spirit so strong i started cryin like a little nino. Anyways please write i've got to go!!! I love you all, stay strong, make the right choices, and you'll be blessed! I'll write you again on Monday, and im now going to attempt to upload some pictures so i hope they work! Hasta Luego!!
p.s - it didnt work i'll have to mail them! i've mailed some letters i wrote the first 2 days earlier so expect them soon! love ya!

MTC Curbside Drop Off
July 1, 2009
The day finally arrived. As we woke up early and loaded all 6 of us in the Lexus it was time to say good bye. We stopped in Provo and had breakfast at IHOP. We noticed other missionaries doing the same thing. Carson's breakfast was free for being a new missionary. We drove to the MTC and parked across the street and walked over to the main entrance for a few photos. We had a family hug and we are already looking forward to our next family hug in 2 years. We took a few more single pictures and Carson said "Lets go". We drove to our curbside #12 after passing the flu inspection. The elders were there to pick up and carry Carson's luggage. We had one last hug and off he went. It wasn't until the drive back home that Mom broke down and cried. We are praying for Carson and know he will be a great missionary!!!

The final Curbside Drop Off.....and last hugs!

The "new" Elder Campbell
June 30, 2009 8:30pm
Tonight Carson was set apart as a full time Missionary with the title of Elder Campbell. It was a perfect night with the adults in attendance for the setting apart. Everyone in the room was given the opportunity to talk to Carson and give words of advise. Even though we had a large group the spirit was strong and a stronger bond was formed between all. After the setting apart we returned to our home to celebrate with banana splits.

Bishop Jensen, Brother Scott, President Richards,
Carson's Farewell
June 28, 2009 Carson had his farwell today. He worked hard on preparing his talk. With a packed chapel and gym (which was great for our wards numbers)Carson gave a wonderful talk on missionary work and service. I had many people comment on his abilty to speak. He sounded so prepared. Stewart & Sharon Campbell family sang a beautiful song with lyrics in English & Spanish which brought tears to all of our eyes. The spirit was strong. We had to laugh when the progam said the speaker was TBA...apparently the message didn't get sent that it was Carson's farwell. I told them the program was not condusive to scrapbooking. Carson introduced himself as TBA. After we had dinner at our home with food to feed 200 hungry family and friends. The weather was perfect and the company even better.
Called to Serve
April 14, 2009 The day finally came as we waited patiently for the mailman. Mom came home from work because we knew the mailman came at 10 am. As we opened the door he said, "I bet this is what you are waiting for".
We then had to wait all day and just look at the envelope while wondering where Carson was called to serve.
The time finally came as everyone met at our house for Carson to open the letter. We tried to get Melanie and Scott on the internet video, but we couldn't make it work. We just had to hold the phone next to Carson.
Called to serve in the Mendoza, Argentina spanish speaking mission. Carson had always had a feeling he would be going to a spanish speaking mission.
Dad and Carson hug as we are all thrilled with his calling. Uncle Mike served in the Bahia Blanca Mission, so mom knew he would be safe.

After the evening was almost over, Carson broke the news to us that he had carefully opened the envelope earlier in his bedroom because he just couldn't wait any longer. CHEATER!!!
